I’ve had my Shokz OpenFit since July 2023. I originally bought them for just running, but I use them for much more. I bought them to replace my Samsung Buds, which got on my nerves because they needed to be in my ear. When I worked out, I’d get sweaty, and they’d fall out, and trying to put them back in changed the song—it was frustrating.
I bought these for working out but mostly running. The ear hook wraps around the ear, making it stay on whilst going about the day. I’ve actually gotten into the shower a few times because I forgot I had them on – they’re very comfy.
This is the official explanation from Shokz:
The ergonomic and flexible ear hook perfectly wraps around different curves of ears, providing a soft and secure grip. The split design between the earbud and battery balances the weight of the whole system, providing comfort and stability. Feel free to walk, run, and even jump, and OpenFit stays in place. https://uk.shokz.com/products/openfit
Have I tried Shokz OpenFit with the following, and would I recommend?
- Glasses – Yes
- Hats from bobble hats, to running caps – Yes
- Helmets – Unsure, never tried
Wearing with glasses
I wear the Shokz OpenFit pretty much all day while working and wearing glasses. After a 7-hour+ day, they’ve never caused me any aches, and I’m never itching to remove them (with or without my glasses).
They go behind my ear, but I can’t say I’ve ever had problems fitting both the headphones and glasses behind my ear. They both just, fit. The headphones seem to stay with the curve of my ear, while my glasses are more towards my head.
Excuse the ear close-up…. I’ve tried to get different angles so you can see how they look with glasses:
Wearing with bobble hats and caps
I’ve worn caps and bobble hats with the Shokz OpenFit, and they all fit well on my head. Caps don’t tend to go near, as they’re a little too high on my head. In comparison, bobble hats cover the headphones slightly.
I’ve never had an issue with bobble hats interfering with the music or touching the control sensors on the flat part.
